1. Product Details
These Museum Gold Orb Earrings are one of the original pieces from my personal collection of 33 graduation works, created during my Jewelry Design studies and still among the designs I am most proud of today.
At first glance, the design appears deceptively simple: two suspended golden spheres connected by elongated geometric links. Yet simplicity is often where craftsmanship becomes most difficult.
The entire piece is handcrafted from high-quality H65 brass and fully finished with rich 24K gold plating. The earrings feature two large spherical elements that were deliberately engineered using a hollow construction rather than solid metal. Achieving a perfectly balanced hollow sphere requires significantly more skill than casting a solid form. The wall thickness must remain consistent, the shape must stay perfectly round, and the structure must remain strong enough for long-term wear while dramatically reducing weight. This technique allows the earrings to maintain a bold visual presence without becoming uncomfortable.
The greatest challenge, however, lies in the surface finish.
While brushed textures are relatively achievable on precious metals such as gold, creating a flawless and evenly distributed hand-brushed texture on brass is widely considered one of the most difficult finishing techniques in metal craftsmanship. Every line must flow naturally across the curved surface without interruption. Any inconsistency immediately becomes visible under light.
Early in my career, I was fortunate enough to receive specialized guidance from a master craftsman who helped me understand and eventually master this technique. Years later, it remains one of the most valuable skills in my workshop and one of the signatures that collectors often recognize in my work.
After the brushing process, each earring undergoes an additional hand-applied oxidation and aging treatment, creating the warm patina and soft glow of a treasured object that has been carefully preserved for decades. The result feels less like newly manufactured jewelry and more like a cherished heirloom passed down through generations.
Elegant, architectural, and quietly luxurious, these earrings embody the kind of sophistication that never relies on trends.
2. My Story & Craft
Hello, I‘m Lisa, a second-generation jewelry artisan and a Jewelry Design graduate from Birmingham City University.
I grew up in my father‘s workshop, surrounded by traditional jewelry making from childhood. Watching skilled hands transform raw metal into something meaningful shaped the way I view jewelry today.
The income from my father‘s workshop helped support my education in England, where I studied professional jewelry design while continuing to learn the traditional techniques that have been passed through our family for decades.
Many of my current designs originated from the 33 graduation pieces I created during university. Rather than treating those works as student projects, I spent years refining them, improving the engineering, craftsmanship, and wearability until they became the pieces I offer today.
I do not design jewelry to follow trends. I create objects that feel timeless, pieces that people can wear for years and eventually pass on to someone they love.
3. Styling Suggestions
These earrings are remarkably versatile despite their sculptural appearance.
For an elegant Old Money evening look, pair them with champagne, black, ivory, or deep chocolate silk dresses. A structured leather handbag and minimal jewelry allow the brushed gold spheres to become the focal point of the outfit.
For modern professional dressing, combine them with a neutral tailored blazer, wide-leg linen trousers, loafers, and a crisp blouse. The architectural geometry adds sophistication without feeling excessive, making them ideal for business meetings, galleries, and creative professional environments.
For relaxed vintage styling, wear them with a knitted camisole, high-waisted denim, a distressed leather crossbody bag, and soft natural makeup. The aged gold finish complements vintage-inspired wardrobes beautifully.
For formal dinners and cocktail events, the elongated silhouette naturally enhances the neckline and creates elegant vertical lines that flatter the face while maintaining understated luxury.
4. Who I Create Jewelry For
I create jewelry for people who appreciate craftsmanship before trends.
These earrings are designed for collectors, architects, designers, artists, gallery visitors, lovers of vintage luxury, and women who prefer quiet confidence over obvious status symbols.
They are not intended for those seeking fast-fashion accessories or seasonal trends.
Instead, they are made for individuals who understand the beauty of exceptional metalwork, who notice the difference between machine-made and handmade objects, and who appreciate the hidden difficulty behind seemingly simple forms.
If you are drawn to museum-inspired design, heirloom-quality craftsmanship, and jewelry with a story behind every detail, this piece was created for you.
